Job description

Employee or freelance, the candidate will be asked to work on various types of IT security consulting missions encompassing many extra-IT matters. As missions are generally short-term or part-time ones, he needs to be open-minded and interested in learning. More precisely, such missions will encompass IT security plans creation, security policies creation, security-based assessments of IT services and/or technical solutions and infrastructure, security management evaluation, development of ad-hoc security functional solutions, security office support, DRP/BCP-based evaluation and solution elaboration, security awareness programs, etc.

As Approach has developed a long experience in multidimensional risk analysis and security evaluation, stress will not be put on specific product knowledge but rather on the ability of the candidate to react, learn and adapt his competencies to customer´s environment.

Besides technical skills, the candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong awareness regarding IT security principles/rules compliance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are absolutely necessary.

Job requirements


Generic technical skills knowledge:
IP-based LAN/WAN management.
Telco technologies, classical routing problems and solutions, wireless technologies.
Operating systems in a corporate environment (Windows 2000/XP/2003). Knowledge of Linux-Unix or another OS is an asset.
Mail and web-based technologies.
Data storage solutions.
Disaster recovery-based technologies.
Terminal service solutions

Specific security-based technical skills:
Firewall filtering principles, general configuration and administration (Checkpoint systems, Juniper and/or Cisco firewalls is an asset). The candidate must be able to analyze configurations, policies and log files and carry out additional investigations.
VPN technologies (how are initiated and managed encrypted connections, more particularly B-to-B ones over Internet).
Corporate content security solutions (including centrally managed antivirus and personal firewall).
RBAC principles and authentication solutions.
Other security solutions (e.g. proxy-based filters, crypto-based technologies, etc.).
Knowledge of sniffing-hacking-cracking and security assessment tools is an asset.

In practice, the candidate MUST be able to understand and analyze the link between a business functional request and an operational system configuration rule. He also has to be able to assess and compare different technical solutions.

Other specific security-based skills:
Knowledge of risk analysis method(s) is a major asset.
Knowledge of quality or security norms and framework such as ITIL or ISO is another major asset.

Organizational, relational and human skills
Capability to analyze an issue, elaborate a strategy and manage it in order to solve critical problems in complex environments.
Capability to learn extra-IT matters such as legal regulations, customer organization structure, business processes and dependencies, physical security principles and technologies, etc.
Capability to comply with and use formal processes, frameworks or legal regulations-based processes (e.g. security policies, EC regulations, etc.).
Good social contact & communication skills. Experience of job activities in an international environment is an asset.
Excellent team spirit.
Pro-active attitude & capability to work in a self-sufficing way even if methodological support and project management will be provided.
Good knowledge of English is mandatory. The candidate must be fluent as international contacts and communications are common. He should also be able to write correct documents in English. French mother tongue or at least good knowledge of French is necessary. Dutch knowledge is an asset.

The candidate should have a high school or university degree.
